New crabapple varieties that carry proven disease resistance are an attractive choice for ornamental landscapes. Tree shapes may be upright, spreading, rounded, or weeping, with several variations. Colorful pink, red, and white blooms are eye-catching in the spring. Some trees turn color in late autumn. Many produce small, bright fruit that attract overwintering birds. Tables indicate bloom, fruit, resistance, and vigor by tree shape and flower color. Color photos show trees in bloom or trimmed in fruit.
