Safflower Production Tips/ Alternative Crops for Dryland Ag Series
Safflower Production Tips/ Alternative Crops for Dryland Ag Series EB1890
Author(s): Norm Herdrich
This publication represents the status of safflower production knowledge in Washington State as of February 1999. Safflower is a domesticated broadleaf thistle being studied as an alternative crop to cereal grains in eastern Washington. It resembles yellow starthistle and is a member of the same plant family as sunflowers. Several growers and agronomists are producing and testing safflower in Washington to evaluate abilities to produce this crop annually. If you are considering producing safflower, this is a place to start.
