Forest Ecology in Washington
Forest Ecology in Washington EB1943
Author(s): Donald P. Hanley and David M. Baumgartner
Forests are complex. Their ecosystems include living and nonliving components. Forest ecology deals with virtually everything relating to the forest as a whole. The authors and contributors provide a primer that deals with scale, landscapes, energy flows and cycles, vegetation patterns, disturbance, and stand development. They introduce site quality and the concept of site indexing. The authors describe and illustrate forest development phases and forest types east and west of the Cascade mountains. A forest ecology glossary is included.
