Landscape Management System: A Computer Tool for Helping Family Forest Owners Make Management Decisions
Landscape Management System: A Computer Tool for Helping Family Forest Owners Make Management Decisions EB2024
Author(s): James B. McCarter, and Donald P. Hanley

Determining the desired future condition is one of the most difficult tasks in silviculture and forest management, and one of the most important. The Landscape Management System (LMS) provides a simplified interface for a variety of computer tools to make evaluation easier for family forestland alternatives. LMS automates the process of formatting inventory information, using growth models, simulating treatments, visualization, and providing summarized information for further analysis. This publication describes the program, how to use it, and gives examples. The software program is included on CD and is also available as a free download.
