Managing Small Woodlands for Grouse MISC0141
Author(s): Ron Shay, Woodland Fish and Wildlife Project coordinator, reviewed by John Crawford, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, Oregon State University
Written as a practical guide for woodland owners interested in fish and wildlife management. Ruffed grouse choose a varied habitat that includes open areas, brush, hardwoods and conifers. Grouse nest in ground depressions by a tree or rock. In winter they may burrow in snow. Cooperators for the Woodland Fish and Wildlife Project include state and federal agencies in Washington and Oregon.
