Bats make up one of the largest groups of mammals. Often misunderstood, bats are highly beneficial as biological control agents for insects. A single bat can consume thousands of insects in a single night. In the southwest and tropics, bats pollinate many night blooming plants. Bats navigate by echolocation, locating prey by reflected sound. Habitat requirements, roosting, hibernation and species are discussed and outlined. Plans for building a bat house are included, for those who would like to encourage these natural insect predators. A Woodland Fish and Wildlife Project publication.
