Trees Against the Wind
Trees Against the Wind PNW0005
Author(s): Donald P. Hanley and Gary Kuhn
Protecting homes, crops, and animals from the wind and weather can be challenging for anyone involved in agriculture. The effects of using properly designed windbreaks are outlined in this revised classic. Although writing primarily for Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, the authors offer information useful for other parts of the country as well. Local foresters or conservationists can recommend plant species and spacing suitable for your area. Topics include: windbreak benefits, years needed to grow a windbreak, planning a windbreak, windbreak design, density, and species, care after planting, renovation of old plantings, and sources of planting stock. Color throughout.
