Tree Growth, Forest Management, and Their Implications for Wood Quality
Tree Growth, Forest Management, and Their Implications for Wood Quality PNW0576   Trees grow under a wide range of genetic and environmental influences and the wood they produce similarly has a wide range of properties and characteristics. This publication provides basic information on tree growth, characteristics that define wood quality, and the implications of common silvicultural (tree tending) activities on wood quality. Understanding tree growth processes allows foresters to consider wood quality as a management objective, and also helps manufacturers understand the limitation of their wood raw materials.
